Chief Political, Economic Officer of US Consulate Ms Karan Swaner and Economic Officer Robert Hawkins held an orientation meeting with office-bearers and the executive committee of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI). During the meeting, both sides considered almost all the issues including free market access to US for Pakistani products, provision of civil nuclear technology to overcome ongoing electricity shortage, early establishment of the ROZs (Reconstruction Opportunity Zones), US investment in Pakistan and transfer of technology. LCCI President Shahzad Ali Malik informed the US team the stability of Pakistan through prompt direct market access to US is a must, adding it is high time for the US to fully support Pakistan economy on priority in this crucial phase. He said the market access would help rehabilitate and reconstruct the totally damaged basic industrial infrastructure, besides generating jobs for millions of jobless people. Full story
