Time to redefine Indo-Pakistan relationship |

The foreign secretaries of India and Pakistan are to meet on the sidelines of a standing committee meeting of the SAARC in Thimpu (Bhutan) on 6-7 February. Though the talks are yet to be held, India has already expressed its skeptism on the outcome of the same. Indian foreign secretary, while talking to journalists, said that no major hopes can be pinned on the outcome of this interaction. Indian leadership has on all forums worked to corner Pakistan, especially on terrorism, a phenomena that has turned global. All the foreign dignitaries that visited India were made to negatively speak on Pakistan affairs for they would lose their share of India’s booming economic market. The latest episode of Indian rancor blocked the EU time-bound trade concessions for Pakistan at the World Trade Organisation. India has effectively used the Mumbai terror incident to stall all the peace overtures of Pakistan by making the bilateral interaction hostage to prosecution of the perpetrators of that heinous crime. Pakistan has repeatedly asked for key documents on the basis of which further legal action could be taken against the alleged perpetrators as per the law of land. Pakistan still awaits the same.
