Mr. Muhammad Anwar Rashid, Secretary, Environment Protection Department (EPD), Government of the Punjab has said that full cooperation will be extended to the industry of Punjab including District Sheikhupura to make the Environment Human friendly, as industry is considered back bone of the economy and provide livelihood to the thousands of workers he added. Mr. Rashid was addressing the members of Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) today, while Mian Farooq Ahmed, President SCCI presided over the meeting Mr. Manzoor ul Haq Malik, Group Head & Former President SCCI gave briefing on environmental problems and highlighted the water polluted areas of District Sheikhupura which has hindered the production process of different industries due to incompletion of drain on Lahore – Sheikhupura Road.

Mr. Ali Jaan Khan, DCO Sheikhupura, Maliha Rashid, AC Ferozwala, Humayun Bashir Tarar, DPO Sheikhupura, Executive Committee Members of SCCI and other prominent industrialists of Sheikhupura Mr. Tariq Mughal, Amjad Nazir Butt, Sheikh Abdul Hafeez, Mr. Ali Abbas, A. R. Khan, Mr. Saadullah Ejaz also attended the meeting and grace the occasion.

Secretary, EPD said, Industrialists would be taken into confidence before issuing EPO against any industry and SCCI will be informed accordingly. He said proper awareness campaign would also be launched for proper disposal of waste water, solid waste and garbage in District Sheikhupura. He said that the industrialists should full fill their responsibilities and make sure the cleanliness in and around their factories. However, the department will full fill its responsibility on its part to make the environment pollution free in all respect.

On this occasion, Mr. Ali Jan Khan, DCO also emphasize to remove the defective laws of environment for its proper implementation to make the environment better and cleaned keeping in view the ground reality of society. He said LAFCO would be advised to cooperate with the industrialists in connection with issuing of NOC for construction of drain in front of industrial units on Lahore – Sheikhupura Road.
