FAISALABAD (October 23 2007): The Production and Pollution Prevention Workshop Report has suggested that clean production centres should be established in the industrial clusters of leather, cutlery, surgical instruments and garments sector, while World Bank and Smeda should initiate a clean production awareness programme as a public-private partnership project.
The Production and Pollution Prevention Workshop, which was jointly organised by Small & Medium Enterprise Development Authority (Smeda), Ministry of Industries, Production & Special Initiatives, Government of Pakistan and World Bank at Lahore during last month to highlight the need for the adoption of clean production methods by SMEs as well as large industries, suggested that the government and donors should encourage only those projects and programmes that are environment friendly. |
