The current level of trade between India and Pakistan which at present is $2 billion, can quadruple if trade, investments and joint ventures are allowed to freely take place, says a joint declaration by the information technology committee formed as part of Aman ki Asha. “If this were to happen we foresee the possibility of generating business up to $5 billion in the IT sector,” the declaration says. Aman ki Asha, an initiative by The Times of India and the Jang Group, was started last year. The joint declaration was the culmination of an elaborate exchange of thoughts on how to convert the strengths of India and Pakistan into a synergy that will drive the betterment of relations between the two societies by members of a committee, comprising representatives principally of information technology businesses from both countries. Earlier in the day, the IT committee members engaged in a detailed dialogue on the possibilities to engage in mutually beneficial projects which will involve participation from people -- especially the young generation -- of Pakistan and India. full stroy |
