Representatives of various trade bodies have expressed concern and disappointment at police performance in the instance of deteriorating law and order situation. Robberies, dacoities, extortions and snatching of motorcycles and cars were taking place daily and without any checks or balances, they said in a meeting held at the HCCI office. Traders and customers were equally suffering from the dilemma of insecurity as extortions and other crimes in industrial area mostly take place in the night and district police had failed in providing protection to people, they said. They asked the HCCI to highlight poor police performance by displaying banners and posters and arranging demonstrations. Though heavy traffic was banned in the city during the daytime but the ban was being blatantly violated. A suggestion was put forward to introduce parking system on the pattern of Karachi, establishment of police posts in main business centers and increased night patrolling. Former Chamber president Haji Mohammad Yaqoob proposed resolving businessmen`s problem through a dialogue with police.
