CHAOS AT RELIEF CAMPS
 Muzaffar Hameed August 30, 2010, 12:46:02 AM

Our Quaid said that the nation’s pillars of success are the faith unity and discipline but it is very ironic to observe that we neglect all of them in the hard times when they are most needed to be remembered and behave as a directionless mob with no sense of morality.

For the past few weeks, we as a nation have been suffering through the distress caused by the flood. Thousands of people have lost their lives and millions of them have become homeless. Now many of them are taking refuge in the temporary relief camps and hardly making the both ends meet.

The alleged scenes are also observed while visiting these camps. A team of the Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce & Industry also visited the relief camps situated at Mansahra, Muzaffar Ghar. There the refugees were seen in a miserable condition. The hunger and poverty has turned the civilized men into savages as they we snatching the food supplies from each other while the distribution of the relief articles. Those who were physically strong, were pushing the others to get the lions share but the weak ones were left behind and were deprived of the food supplies. Those who were weak and in
a desperate need of food, were standing in the rows with throne clothes because their clothes were ripped off during the struggle for the relief articles.

The Govt. Officials are stating that the relief supplies are being distributed without any problem and every one in getting the essentials for one survival. The ground realities are quite opposite to it as many of the families are still waiting for help as the have not received the requirement articles for the fulfillment of their desperate living needs.

Such problems occur only when there is no discipline in the system regarding its execution. The relief articles are distributed without keeping any order in view and there is no discipline in the approach of the refugees also. It is suggested that a temporary RELIEF CARD must be issued for the convenience of the flood affected people, in the lines with the civil Ration Card so that the deserving people may get the necessities for their survival. Secondly the tents and the stoves of LPG must be issued to the refugee families so that they may able to cook the food without any problem.

We must stand united as one nation in this hour of misery and practice discipline before the world which is mocking at us because of the chaos spread in the relief camps. Moreover, we must donate funds for the rehabilitation of the internally displaces peoples and facilitate them with the daily essentials as much as possible because the great nations become united in the difficulties. We pray that Allah Almighty may avert this problem and forgive us for our sins which we have committed as a nation.

Thanks & Regards!
