(Mard - 14/07/2010) Rice exports to Hong Kong will rise in the second half this year, a Vietnamese trade official said.
Vu Thinh Cuong, Vietnam's trade counselor in Hong Kong and Macau, said Hong Kong importers plan to buy a huge amount of rice from Vietnam in the coming months.
In order to seize this opportunity, local exporters need to pay attention to product quality and delivery schedules, Cuong said. Trade officials will do everything they can to secure them contracts, he added.
According to the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Vietnam exported US$11 million worth of rice in the first five months of this year, a figure nearly equal to the $12 million of rice exported during all of 2009. MARD
