Honorable Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif
Prime Minster of Pakistan
Government of Pakistan
P.M Office, Islamabad

Subject:  Unnecessary, Unmanaged Electricity Load Shedding to Collapse the Industry in Sheikhupura

Dear Sir,
We avail this opportunity to present our compliments to you at P.M Office at Islamabad.

We would like to draw your kind attention towards the under mentioned problems of industrialists of Sheikhupura which were discussed in the Executive Committee meeting of the Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI). These under mentioned points need your prompt attention to resolve the electricity related problems on priority basis.

1. Industries of Sheikhupura faced load shedding from 10-14 hours daily. However shutdown is also taken for repair and maintenance purposes for 3-4 hours per week, whereas industries in Sundar Industrial Estate face only 6 hour load shedding. This disparity should be removed forthwith by taking strong administrative measures in LESCO for the benefits of industries of Lahore and Sheikhupura.
2. Exorbitant amount of electricity bills more than the actual reading, sometimes LESCO line staff misuse their authorities and caused fudging in electricity reading to overcome the line losses.
3. Ultramodern system was designed to get actual reading of each electricity feeder and grid. For this purpose special SIMS were placed to get reading but LESCO authority do not share this data information with SCCI.
4. SCCI has purposed that line losses and theft of electricity should be calculated on the bases of each feeder and grid, and electricity bill should be charged from the industrialists on the bases of loss registered on each concerned feeder and grid.
5. At present LESCO has no proper arrangement for maintenance of defective transformers. If anyone has strong relation with LESCO authorities, he can manage to get repair of his defective or burnt transformer privately out of the LESCO workshops with less price and time. However, if transformer is repair in the LESCO workshop it contains lengthy procedure with high cost and much time.
6. Now government has empowered the FIA to register cases against the industrialists on the bases of theft complaints, which is tantamount to exploitation of industrialists. It is therefore necessary to define the role of FIA, so that industrialists could be saved from unnecessary exploitations and harassment.
7. Mostly industries in Sheikhupura enjoy the facility of independent feeder, but with connivance of LESCO staff few domestic connections are provided on the same feeders which ultimate create problems of load shedding for industries. These feeders should be remained independent so that industrialists could not pay extra illegal charges to LESCO staff for running their factories.
8. LESCO officers keep changing their decision without taking the industrialists into confidence. Under these circumstances the Federal Government is badly maligned without any fault on their part.
9. Sheikhupura Chamber may be given representation in the Board of Directors of LESCO so that a strong liaison could be established with LESCO for the solution of different electricity problems.

We therefore, request you to look into this matter personally and issue instructions to all power distributions companies including LESCO to take corrective measures so that industries could not suffer further with unnecessary load shedding and your good Government could also be saved from unnecessary criticism. Your early positive action in this regard will highly be appreciated.

Assuring you of our best services,

Best Regards,
